MBA Verses Medical Degree

This comment is not the result of a news story but a personal experience.  I recently had to go to the emergency room with an abdominal problem.  During that visit a CT scan was administered which diagnosed my problem and the problem was treated and resolved.  However, after reading the CT scan the Radiologist discovered small spots on the bottom of my right lung and recommended another CT scan of my chest to determine if I have a more serious problem with my lungs.  I made an appointment with my primary physician to schedule the CT scan, only to find out that my primary physician could not provide the referral without first obtaining permission from my insurance company.  Since when does an MBA managing an insurance company know more about a person's health and the care he/she needs than a Medical Doctor?  This puts me in the position of having to trust a non Medical Doctor with my health and maybe my life.  I thought Obama Care was supposed the do away with this kind of influence over the Medical Doctor's practice.
